BMW has announced that the new X4 will be making its debut at the upcoming New York Auto Show, but it looks like there is another debut that the brand didn’t want us to know about.

According to German website Bimmertoday, the M4 convertible will also be coming along to New York for its international debut. It will be powered by the same turbocharged 3.0-liter straight-six unit that pumps out 425 hp and 406 lb-ft of torque in the M4 Coupe (seen above).

With a six-speed manual gearbox these cars should be able to blitz from zero to 60 miles an hour in a scant 4.1 seconds according to BMW, while automatic transmission models will make the jump in an estimated 3.9 seconds. Top speed is electronically limited to 155 miles an hour.

The convertible is expected to be almost identical to the coupe, but of course it will weight slightly more. 18-inch alloy wheels and some carbon fiber add-ons are also expected to give this car a bit of unique style.

Meh. The car's too big. It's no longer a sports car... just a big luxury convertible.
