Hack a Tesla Model S and Win $10,000
Hacking computer networks and security systems is so last year. It’s all about hacking cars now.
At this year’s SyScan Conference in Beijing, security experts will have a chance to hack a Tesla Model S in hopes of winning $10,000. The competition is not sanctioned by the American automaker, but that won’t stop the organizers of the event in putting the electric vehicle’s security to the test.

Details on the actual competition are light, but the Model S will be accompanied by computers on site to allow hackers to throw everything they’ve got at the car. Some examples of what SyScan believes it’ll see from the eventual winner include controlling the Model S from a PC or making the in-dash browser visit specified websites to test if malware infection is possible.
The American automaker has a full vulnerability disclosure program that makes it easy to report any flaw in its vehicles and has also employed former Apple security personnel Kristin Paget to bring the best digital safety to Model S owners.
