The Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat is faster than a Chevrolet Corvette Z06 under certain conditions.

Following today’s announcement that the Corvette Z06 will accelerate to 60 mph from a standstill in a blistering 2.95 seconds, TorqueNews is reporting that the Charger SRT Hellcat will do it in 2.9 seconds when equipped with drag radials. Even more impressive, the 707-hp sedan ran the quarter mile in just 10.7 seconds, showing just how much of an improvement drag radials can make on a high-performance vehicle.

With stock tires, the Charger SRT Hellcat runs the quarter mile in 11.2 seconds despite its 4,500-lb weight and it’ll be interesting to see the battles going down at your local racetrack once these high-powered muscle cars start arriving at dealerships.

Was the Z06 time on drag radials? If not then its not really a good comparison.

Probably the Michelin Pilot Sport Cup tires... which aren't that much different... though maybe drag radials would give a little bit better launch!

After looking up the chevy test of the '15 Z06, the 10.95 quarter mile and the 2.95 0-60 was done with drag radials and an automatic transmission like the Charger Hellcat. It did not specify the brand or tire size, but I would assume something in the 135/305/19 or 20 range on the rear, running tires slightly narrower and a smaller rim size on the front axle, as has been common with the Corvette family in the past.
