Nissan is making a half-ton statement with its all-new 2016 Titan at the 2015 Detroit Auto Show.

The new pickup will be available with two sizes of fully boxed frames, with the larger sporting the Titan XD nameplate. It will also be roughly 20-inches longer than the standard model and will be powered by a Cummins-sourced 5.0-liter V8 diesel engine packing 310 hp and 555 lb-ft of torque mated to a six-speed automatic transmission.

The lineup will also consist of gasoline V6 and V8 engines that will be available at a later date. What makes the 2016 Nissan Titan XD unique is the fact that the Cummins diesel engine will allow it to compete in a category that doesn’t quite exist, bridging the gap between half-ton and three-quarter ton pickups. That means maximum towing will be over 12,000 lbs while maximum payload will sit above 2,000 lbs. In total, Nissan will offer the 2016 Titan with three cab configurations, two frame sizes and three powertrains along with five trim levels, making it one versatile pickup.
