The impressive MercedesAMG Black Series name will eventually return.

As the company continues its blitz of new models including the Mercedes-AMG GT, an announcement about new Black Series models hasbeen noticeably absent. According to company boss Tobias Moers, the Black Series models haven’t been killed off and will return in a future AMG model, just not anytime soon. In an interview with Autocar, Moers said “the base cars are so good,” giving reason as to why the German automaker isn’t focusing on a Black Series model just yet.

But the name will remain with Moers calling it a necessity in the future. The company believes that Black Series “must be at the top of the hill” and will likely hold production of a new Black Series model until it’s needed in the marketplace.
