Jaguar is working on its first model with over 600 hp.

AutoGuide.com‘s spy photographers caught the British automaker testing a hotter variant of the sports car that – likely the F-Type SVR – earlier last month and now Motor Trend is reporting that it will have over 600 hp. Considering the F-Type R’s 5.0-liter supercharged V8 already outputs 550 hp and the F-Type Project 7 made 575 hp from the same engine, it’s not a stretch to believe Jaguar is able to squeeze more out of the powerplant. Expect the F-Type SVR to also benefit from other upgrades found on the F-Type Project 7, including the active rear differential, carbon ceramic brakes and a carbon fiber aero kit.

If the F-Type SVR does end up making over 600 hp, expect the sports car to do its 0-60 MPH sprint in the low three-second range. The F-Type SVR will be another SVR model from the Jaguar Land Rover Special Vehicle Operations (SVO), which introduced the Range Rover Sport SVR that has 550 hp and 502 lb-ft of torque, 40 hp and 41 lb-ft of torque more than the standard Range Rover Sport Supercharged.
