The Mitsubishi Mirage is not going to be sold as a 2016 model year, but the car will return with updates for 2017.

This coming spring, Mitsubishi will introduce the 2017 Mirage with powertrain and chassis updates while forgoing a 2016 model. There might be a slight lull in sales, but there should be plenty of 2015 models on dealer lots to fill in the gap.

This strategy will help Mitsubishi save on the costs of federalizing and marketing a short lived 2016 model year Mirage.

A four-door sedan variant of the Mirage (seen above) is also expected to arrive in 2017 when the car is relaunched, a model that is already sold in other parts of the world.

Currently, the Mirage uses a small 1.2-liter three-cylinder engine that makes 74 hp and 74 lb-ft of torque.
