Land Rover is planning to join the SUV coupe market with a Range Rover offering.

Expected to be Range Rover’s next new model, the Range Rover Sport Coupe will target the BMW X6 and will share its chassis with the Jaguar F-Pace. Autocar reports that the model is internally known as L560 and was originally referred to as Evoque XL, a model set to slot between the Evoque and Range Rover Sport. It is believed that insiders now call the model Evoque Plus, although they deny that such a production model exists.

The Range Rover Sport Coupe is rumored to measure 15.4 feet long, making it smaller than the BMW X6 and GLE Coupe so that it will be closer to the BMW X4 in length. But the British automaker plans to price it so that it competes with the X6.

The model could also use the all-electric powertrain that Jaguar Land Rover is definitely using for the F-Pace EV. The addition of an all-electric Range Rover will help the company meet a new California target of 15 percent fleet mix of battery-electric vehicles between 2018 and 2025.

The SUV coupe market is becoming more competitive, and most recently, Mercedes-Benz introduced the new GLC Coupe at the 2016 New York Auto Show.
