It is an accepted fact that Ferrari has some of the best engines in the world, and now it has the awards to prove it.

The Italian automaker received a record number of awards at the International Engine of the Year Award ceremony, including the overall winner with its twin-turbo V8 used in the 488 GTB, 488 Spider and with a slightly different displacement, the California T. The same engine also won the Performance Engine and New Engine categories, as well as the 3.0-liter to 4.0-liter displacement category.

Claiming the award for the above 4.0-liter category is Ferrari’s naturally aspirated 6.3-liter V12 engine found in the F12berlinetta and F12tdf models.

The International Engine of the Year Award is one of the industry’s most coveted honors, with 63 jurors from more than 30 countries deciding the winners.

“It’s a giant leap forward for turbocharged engines in terms of efficiency, performance and flexibility,” said Graham Johnson, co-chairman, International Engine of the Year Awards. “It truly is the best engine in production today and will forever be remembered as one of the all-time greats.”

Lots of great engines from Maranello, though you've got to pay through the nose to enjoy any of them.
