Poll: Audi R8 V10 Plus or Porsche 911 Turbo S?

When you have six-figures to spend on a vehicle there’s a world of models to choose from. If you’re after something ostentatious and speedy both Audi and Porsche will happily sell you a satisfying machine.

Really, it’s hard to argue with either of these companies’ top-tier offerings. The four-ring brand’s R8 is a lusty supercar with V10 power. Zuffenhausen’s 911 Turbo S counters with a pumped-up flat-six mounted in the rear.

Starting with the Audi, it’s motivated by a 5.2-liter V10 that puts out a damn-impressive 610 horsepower along with 413 lb-ft of twist. A seven-speed S tronic automatic transmission handles shifting duties and routes torque to all of the R8’s wheels through the firm’s legendary quattro all-wheel-drive system.

Not to be outdone, the Porsche in this comparison features a 3.8-liter boxer six. It’s down on displacement and cylinder count but makes up for these deficiencies with boost, and lots of it. Thanks to turbocharging it puts out 553 horses and 516 lb-ft of twist, which is also sent to all of the 911’s wheels via a seven-ratio dual-clutch transmission.

But which of these cars is faster? Surely they’re both face-distortingly speedy, but the Porsche holds an edge. It can blast to 60 miles an hour in a claimed 2.8 seconds. In comparison, the R8 takes a “leisurely” 3.2.

For more information about these amazing cars you can compare them right here. Lastly, please don’t forget to vote in our poll!

The AUDI looks better inside and out. Depends if you want looks and style or pure racetrack advantage. For day to day, the AUDI would be my choice.
