A pre-teen was busted over the weekend for stealing his parents’ car and then going for a joyride, apparently in a fit of inspiration after playing the Grand Theft Auto video game.

In a surprising twist, the incident didn’t happen in Florida, but in Ontario, Canada. According to CTV News, Police officers were alerted to a car driving erratically late Saturday night on Highway 400, just north of Toronto. Police assumed it was an impaired driver, but were shocked to find an 11-year-old driving when they were finally able to stop him after a bit of a chase.

The boy “had just been finishing playing Grand Theft Auto at home and wanted to find out what it was like driving a car,” Sgt. Kerry Schmidt of the Ontario Provincial Police told CTV News. “He’s only 11 years old,” Schmidt said. “We’re leaving it up to the parents to determine what an appropriate punishment would be.”

Amazingly, the boy didn’t crash and no one was hurt. The car and the boy were returned home by the police and no charges were laid.
