General Motors will use the 2017 Detroit Auto Show to show off two new crossovers, the 2018 Chevy Traverse and GMC Terrain.

GM hasn’t properly redesigned the Traverse or the Terrain since 2009 so both are due.

The new Terrain will ride on the same platform as the refreshed 2018 Chevy Equinox, which means that it should share its engine lineup with the Chevy as well. That means we can expect a 1.5-liter turbo four cylinder, a 2.0-liter turbo four cylinder and maybe even a 1.6-liter turbo diesel.

After the new Traverse is revealed, expect Buick to followup with a refreshed Enclave as the two share a platform. The new Traverse is expected to ride on the same platform as the new GMC Terrain, which should help it lose hundreds of pounds, though it will retain its large size.

The Detroit Auto Show media preview days go on January 9 and 10.
