Ford has released a statement saying it does not support Trump’s travel ban policy.

The company’s CEO Mark Fields and chairman Bill Ford released a joint statement strongly rebuking the recent, controversial policy ordered by President Donald Trump. Ford is the first major automaker to speak out against the travel ban, which applies to seven predominantly Muslim nations and has affected travelers holding green cards.

Speaking to CNN, Fields explained how the policy is against Ford’s core values: “Well, when you go back to the history of our country, first of all, we are all immigrants into the country, and secondly, as a company, we have grown from over the last 114 years into a major automaker. And it’s been because of the great people who have worked in our company over the years and they have been from all races, creeds, nationalities and I think that’s what makes us great as a country and what makes us great as a company.”

The CEO added that no Ford employees have been directly affected by the ban to date.

Joining Ford in condemning the policy is the United Automobile Workers (UAW) union, as well as Tesla CEO Elon Musk and major tech companies like Facebook, Google and Apple. “The blanket entry ban on citizens from certain primarily Muslim countries is not the best way to address the country’s challenges,” Musk said in a tweet.

Will Ford please get rid of this loser already??? He is screwing up Ford so hard. First, he acted all haughty and confident that Trump won't be elected, which led to FORD being uninvited to the President's Economic Development Board while crosstown rival GM gets to be on the board. Then he has to cancel all that work on a new factory in Mexico. And now he is commenting on a President's 90 day moratorium while nobody else is. Why bother alienating himself further from the mainstream? ***And let's not forget Mark Finkelman Fields is the author of Ford's "Way Forward" plan which divested Aston Martin, Jaguar, Land Rover; shut down Mercury, and reduced workforce of 30,000 manufacturing jobs and 6,000 white collar jobs (with some of them being forced to compete to get their old jobs back with less pay and more work)
