A Jaguar XE SVR is reportedly under development.

The British automaker’s Special Vehicle Operations (SVO) division is working on a BMW M3 fighter and Auto Express reports the car is currently in northern Spain for testing. The Jaguar XE SVR will be the company’s first attempt at taking on high-performance sedans like the M3 and AMG C63, and if it’s anything like the existing F-Type and Range Rover Sport SVR models, the Germans better watch out.

Like the other SVR models, the XE sedan is expected to be powered by a 5.0-liter supercharged V8 engine paired to an eight-speed automatic transmission. It’s unlikely the XE SVR will have the same power output as the F-Type SVR however, which features 575 horsepower and 516 pound-feet of torque. Instead, expect around 500 hp to keep it competitive with other sports sedans.

What’s unclear is whether Jaguar will incorporate a similar all-wheel-drive setup to the model, or if the XE will be SVO’s first rear-wheel-drive model.

Along with more power, the XE SVR will have chassis tweaks and updated suspension for better handling capabilities.
