Lexus has shown off a specially modified LC 500 inspired by Black Panther character King T’Challa, which it will display at the 2017 SEMA Show later this month.

The Black Panther-inspired LC 500 features pulsating underbody lights, a Black Panther mask inlay on the hood, a custom widebody kit and some aftermarket wheels. Lexus has also applied a bunch of fictional modifications inspired by the Black Panther series, including Vibranium-infused paint (a mythical ore from Black Panther’s home of Wakanda), a “Remote Pilot Kimoyo Bead Interface” allowing the car to be driven remotely from Wakanda’s capital city of Birnin Zana and a “Wakandan B-CPU” that enables a “symbiotic relationship between the vehicle and its driver.”

Alongside the Black Panther LC 500 at SEMA will be the production-spec LC 500 Inspiration Series. With just 100 units to be sold in the US, the LC inspiration series is set apart from regular LC 500s by its Structural Blue exterior paint, carbon fiber scuff plate and 21-inch chrome wheels. The vehicle is also sold with a Signature Barneys sommelier set – a limited-edition collection of barware inspired by the vehicle’s design.

The Lexus/Black Panther partnership has also spawned a special custom graphic novel called “Black Panther: Soul of a Machine.” The first chapters of the graphic novel were released today, following the story of Black Panther as he works with the LC 500 to attempt to thwart villain Machinesmith’s plans to infiltrate Wakanda’s systems. The full novel will be released in December, but you can read the first four chapters now at this link.
