An image of the new Ferrari 488 ‘GTO’ has leaked online ahead of its official debut.

The leaked image appears to have been taken during an official Ferrari event – perhaps a product backgrounder for customers, media and other VIPs. The track-focused 488 is expected to make its debut at the 2018 Geneva Motor Show in March, but we wouldn’t be shocked to see it make an online debut before then.

Information on the special series 488 leaked earlier this week after photos of slides taken during a Ferrari dealer event were posted online. The vehicle, which may take on the historic ‘GTO’ moniker, is expected to produce around 700 hp from its 3.9-liter twin-turbo V8 engine. It will also be lighter than the standard 488 thanks to the use of lightweight materials and will feature the latest version of Ferrari’s slide slip angle drift control system. The reworked aero seen in this leaked image should also help press its extra-sticky Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires into the ground for added grip.

Stay tuned for more information on the hardcore 488, along with official photos, as they become available.
