BMW I4 Arriving in 2020 With up to 435 Miles of Range

BMW is currently developing its next generation of electric vehicles.
The German automaker previewed the upcoming i4 at the 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show with the i Vision Dynamics Concept, a four-door sedan set to take on the Tesla Model S. Speaking at BMW’s annual financial results conference, the company’s CEO Harald Kruger confirmed the BMW i4 will have a range between 340 to 435 miles.
“With the fifth generation of eDrive, our vehicles will be able to drive 550 to 700 kilometers (340 to 435 miles) on electric power, depending on the model,” he said. “We will achieve this in the BMW i4.”

BMW i division’s Robert Irlinger told Auto Express the production BMW i4 will closely resemble the i Vision Dynamics Concept. As for when it will arrive on the market, Irlinger said as soon as BMW has all its modular systems working, “so something around 2020.”
The BMW i4 will use lithium-ion battery cells, and will ride on a new common architecture that BMW is creating to use for gasoline and diesel cars, plug-in hybrid models, and electric vehicles.
