2018 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid Gets a Lower Starting Price

The 2018 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid is now available at Hyundai dealerships in the U.S.

The refreshed sedan adopts the distinctive design found on the gasoline model and is priced from $26,385 including destination, which is a $500 reduction compared to the 2017 model. Along with the refreshed exterior, the 2018 Sonata Hybrid gets standard blind spot detection and rear cross traffic alert. Other available safety features have been updated, with forward collision warning now enhanced with automatic emergency braking, while lane departure warning now adds lane keep assist function. Buyers can also opt for an additional USB charge port, wireless charging for mobile devices, heated steering wheel, and bi-function LED headlights, which replace the previous HID units.

Some of the packages have also been updated, with the Limited trim now adding a panoramic sunroof, bi-function LED headlights, and LED interior lights. The top-of-the-range Sonata Limited with Ultimate Package adds automatic emergency braking, lane keep assist, wireless charging pad, and heated steering wheel.

Under the hood, the Sonata Hybrid pairs a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with a 38-kW electric motor. While the engine, transmission, and electric motor are carryovers from 2017, the lithium-ion battery pack has been increased by nine percent from 1.62 kWh to 1.76 kWh. The new battery pack improves both city and highway fuel economy by one mile per gallon, helping the 2018 Sonata Hybrid return 42 mpg combined.

The 2018 Hyundai Sonata Limited has a starting price of $31,385 and adding the Ultimate Package costs $3,850 additional.
