The 2020 Land Rover Range Rover Evoque has been photographed testing, with our sharp-eyed spies even catching a glimpse of the new crossover’s interior.

The second-generation Evoque will ride on a reworked version of the front-wheel-drive D8 architecture used in the current Evoque. We’re expecting the 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine to make a return, perhaps with some updates that will make it more a bit quieter and more efficient. The nine-speed transmission should also stick around, along with Land Rover’s all-wheel drive system.

Land Rover is also planning a hybrid Evoque, which is rumored to get a three-cylinder 1.5-liter engine from Jaguar-Land Rover’s Ingenium engine family, along with a 48V electrical system. This model won’t be available from launch, however.

These spy shots serve as proof that the new Evoque won’t stray too far from its styling roots. Land Rover’s design boss, Gerry McGovern, thinks the Evoque’s distinctive styling is key to its success, saying the crossover is a “very distinctive vehicle” that is “known for what it is: falling roof, rising beltline.”

As for the interior, it will take after the Velar, featuring a similar dual-display setup for the infotainment and HVAC controls. These spy photos also show off the gear selector, engine start-stop button, steering wheel and analog speedometer and tachometer.

The second-generation Range Rover Evoque will debut this year at the 2018 Paris Motor Show before going on sale in early to mid-2019 as a 2020 model year vehicle.
