Software Delays Audi E-Tron On Sale Date
Buyers waiting to get their hands on the Audi e-tron electric crossover are going to have to wait a bit longer. That’s because Audi is waiting on regulatory clearance for a new piece of software, according to a company spokesperson.
As part of a vehicle’s development, software changes and tweaks are made to refine or improve the model. One piece of updated software on the e-tron needs regulatory approval, which takes time. Though Audi isn’t saying what is controlled by the software in question.
It’s not a big delay, though. The spokesperson told Reuters that the delay would be four weeks. Since the e-tron isn’t expected until the middle of next year anyway, it’s not a significant impact. That’s better than the initial reports from German newspaper Bild am Sonntag. The publication broke the news saying the delays could have been several months.

That publication also reported that Audi battery supplier LG Chem was trying to increase battery prices due to the higher demand. Neither Audi or LG Chem would comment on the rumors.
Audi launched the crossover last month as part of the company’s move to electrify more of its lineup and sell up to 800,000 plug-in cars by 2025.
