The Electric Vehicle (EV) market continues to grow—giving the electric-curious among us more to learn about while expanding the range of options available to the in-market shopper.

With Audi’s bold plans for 20 new EVs by 2025, it’s probably not much of a surprise that not all of them are entirely different from each other. By that, we mean that some variants are not just likely, but inevitable. The latest, unveiled today the night before the LA auto show is one of those. It’s an e-tron, but this time it’s a Sportback.

An executive order published by the California Air Resources Board indicates the Audi E-Tron 55 Quattro will travel 277.55 miles (446 km) on a single charge.

At the 2019 Geneva Motor Show, the World Car of the Year jury selected the Audi e-Tron, Jaguar I-Pace, and Volvo S60/V60 as the top three cars in the world, with the final winner to be announced next month at the New York Auto Show.

The Audi E-Tron electric crossover will eventually be offered in both high performance and entry level varieties.

Buyers waiting to get their hands on the Audi e-tron electric crossover are going to have to wait a bit longer. That’s because Audi is waiting on regulatory clearance for a new piece of software, according to a company spokesperson.

Come 2020, Audi says it will have an electric car that will charge to 80 percent in 12 minutes. That car is the upcoming e-tron Gran Turismo.

The Audi E-Tron electric crossover is already available to configure and reserve.
