Rumors ran through Twitter today, stirring a frenzy of questions and snarky comments after word escaped that someone wrecked a Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 at the Virginia International Raceway today.

Cadillac released its third teaser video for the 2013 ATS, their compact sport coupe. In the video, Cadillac engineers explain why they have focused their efforts so closely on gathering data at the Nurburing track, saying they can gather more data in one lap at “The Ring” than in twelve at any U.S. track.

Circuit of the Americas is halting of the Formula One circuit in Austin, Texas, effective immediately.

The Lotus Cup USA Series will begin its season on September 2nd at New Jersey Motorsports Park, followed by a second round at Lime Rock Park In Connecticut on October 20th.

With the upcoming launch of the R8 GT Spyder at the Frankfurt auto show, Audi has recently released another video featuring its venerable sports car. The new promo video includes an extensive walk through of the high performance car, showcasing the exterior and interior. We also get to see the car in action on the track, and hear the amazing exhaust note.

Production is limited to only 333 units and the car sheds 187 lbs (compared to the standard Spyder) thanks to extensive use of carbon fibre, allowing it to achieve mind blistering acceleration. This Audi is capable of 0-60 mph in 3.8 seconds with a top speed of 317 km/h. The Spyder will be powered by a V12 5.2-liter FSI engine producing 560-hp. The transmission will be an automatic R-Tronic 6-speed. The car will cost a cool € 207 800 or $295 782.52 in USD. Apparently 90 units of the GT Coupe will arrive Stateside, so expect the same number for the Spyder version.

Oliver Gavin, British racing driver of the No.74 Corvette C6.R, and four time winner of 24 Hours of Le Mans takes us on a lap around the infamous track in his race car. This well done video allows the viewer to experience the track as Gavin explains the technique and driving style required to execute a lap on this 8.3-mile complicated track. The viewer observes from the driver seat and street level along with Gavin’s narration.

When Peugeot first unveiled the EX1 to the world, we all knew it would be one awesome electric car. Its sleek and futuristic design clearly screams race-inspired and now Peugeot has put it on the track just to prove how awesome it is.

The Lausitzring has always suffered from a bit of obscurity; as Europe’s only high speed oval, it’s never garnered much interests from hardcore road course fans, and it’s location in the former East Germany has never endeared it to prestige hungry European motorsports fans.

Mercedes‘ new SLS GT3 decided to grace the near-forgotten raceway with a test session, and a video crew was on hand to capture the SLS going around the road course portion of the track. There’s no real information to go along with the video, but trust us when we say that you need to crank up your speakers and hide your fragile objects.

Ford‘s 2012 Focus has kept a low profile since it’s debut at the 2010 Detroit Auto Show. While we heard endless stories about the Chevrolet Cruze in the run up to its launch, the only news coming out from the Ford camp is the admittedly big announcement about the Focus ST.

Now comes another nugget of information leaking out from Dearborn, this time in video form. A pre-production 2012 Focus is seen lapping the track, and while it’s hard to decode much from the video, The Truth About Cars seems to be enthusiastic about the car’s handling prowess.
