Honda will recall 3,340 Accord Crosstour models over a fault passenger airbag, including 700 units in Canada. The recall is said to have stemmed from the airbag not meeting safety requirements when tested with an unbelted crash test dummy the size of a child.

Honda has advised parents to refrain from putting children under 12 in the passenger seat, but says that no incidents have been reported. Customers can call Honda at 1-888-946-6329.

TORONTO, Sept. 14 /CNW/ – In the United States, Honda will recall certain 2010 model year Accord Crosstour vehicles (approximately 3,340 units in total) to inspect and potentially replace the front passenger airbag. Recent testing to US Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards (FMVSS) revealed that certain front passenger airbag modules installed in a limited number of 2010 Accord Crosstours do not meet one aspect of FMVSS 208 that requires airbag deployment to be tested using an unbelted six year-old child test dummy in the front seating area. No incidents or injuries have been reported in Canada or the US related to this issue. (Honda recommends that children under the age of 12 be properly restrained in the vehicle’s rear seat.)

In Canada all of the affected vehicles (780 units in total) are compliant with the current requirements of Canadian Motor Vehicle Safety Standards (CMVSS). However, in the interests of customer satisfaction, Honda Canada Inc. will be voluntarily conducting a ‘Safety Improvement Campaign’ and will notify all owners of affected vehicles to take their Accord Crosstour to an authorized dealer to have the front passenger airbag inspected and, if necessary, replaced. Written notification to owners will take place in September 2010.

When Honda identifies concerns of this nature, nothing is more important to the company than fulfilling our obligation and responsibility to alert our customers. To this end Honda will contact customers by mail and owners of these vehicles may also contact their dealer or Customer Relations toll-free at 1-888-946-6329.

Hello, I have purchased a brand new Honda Accord Cross Tour EX-L 4WD. My question is if I can afford to put a better grade gasoline in the car, should I put it or it will have no impact on the performance, reliability or durability of the engine. What grade of gasoline would you advise. Regular, Semi Premium or Premium. Please do let me have your expert opinion on it...The manual says 87% octane rating or higher is recommended. Thank you, Darayus
