With the FR-S now on sale the once-popular Scion tC has been significantly overshadowed in the brand’s already limited lineup. Hoping to draw in customers with some added individuality, the Toyota youth brand has just released the latest limited edition Release Series tC with styling provided by tuner Five Axis.

Five Axis has been a long time partner with Toyota, working on numerous special projects and SEMA show cars, not to mention the original FR-S concept. Now the California tuner shop has added its unique flare to the 2013 tC with a custom aero kit and front grille that won’t be available on any other tC. Adding to the five-piece kit is a two-tone rear spoiler with a tC RS 8.0 badge on the back, while the coupe sits low on TRD springs and custom gloss black 18-inch wheels.

In addition, the tC RS 8.0 gets a custom diffuser and a large center-exit exhaust.

Inside the sport compact receives sporty seats with black fabric and red stitching, with red stitching also appear on the leather-wrapped steering wheel, which includes a numbered tC RS 8.0 badge. In total, just 2,000 of these special edition models will be sold.

Available with either a six-speed manual or six-speed automatic, the latter will also receive paddle shifters.

Coated in a unique coat of ‘Absolutely Red’ paint, the tC RS 8.0 is priced at $21,815 for the manual and $22,865 for the automatic (plus $730 delivery fee).

Toyota will first showcase the car at the upcoming Formula Drift event in Monroe, Washington on July 22-23.
