An assumption until now, Jaguar has officially announced the world premiere of its XFR-S high-performance sports sedan at the 2012 LA Auto Show with a lone teaser image of its M5 rival.

“This year’s Los Angeles Auto show is one of the most significant U.S. shows in years for Jaguar Land Rover as we introduce three breakthrough new products,” said Jaguar Land Rover North America President, Andy Goss. “Jaguar Land Rover is making major strides to grow the business with highly targeted new products. The new Jaguar F-TYPE, Jaguar XFR-S and all new Range Rover will all make a major impact, specifically in the United States, which will be the world’s largest market for all three vehicles.”

The “fastest and most powerful saloon Jaguar has ever produced,” the XFR-S is expected to make 550 hp from a supercharged 5.0-liter V8 engine borrowed from the XKR-S. Other upgrades will include a custom aero kit, a lower and stiffer suspension, upgraded brakes and as we’ve seen in numerous spy photos, a large rear spoiler.

In addition to the XFR-S world premiere, Jaguar Land Rover will announce two North American debuts in Los Angeles: the Jaguar F-Type sports car and the 2013 Range Rover.
