The devil woke up this morning to a bad case of frostbite. Yes, hell has frozen over and the Porsche GT3 has an automatic transmission.

Foreshadowed when the German sports car maker unveiled is new GT3 Cup car with a sequential shift gearbox and paddle shifters, the 2014 GT3 will make use of a version of the brand’s PDK dual-clutch 7-speed automatic. At least that’s the assumption, with photos of the all-new street-legal race car hitting the net today showing one of the brand’s automatic shifters where we’d expect a six-speed manual to be.

No details have yet been released on the GT3 but it’s expected to be powered by a 3.8-liter flat-six making roughly 450 hp.

Pour out a bottle of Mobil1 for the manual.
