The spy photos keep rolling in, and the latest show off the next-generation Golf R, although Volkswagen wants you to think it is merely a GTI.

Big air intakes and a quad-exhaust pipe setup give away the car’s performance oriented nature, beyond that of just a regular Golf or even a GTI. The Golf R currently uses a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder to make 256 hp and 243 lb-ft of torque, but rumor has it that the new version of the car will make in the neighborhood of 300 hp.

Those quad pipes are also new for the Golf R, as the previous version of the car uses a center-mounted dual exhaust.
