The Nissan GT Academy has taken five ordinary video game players and turned them into professional race car drivers, and now all five of the winners have been pitted against one another to see who is the fastest around Silverstone Circuit in the UK.

The race took place at a celebration commemorating 15 years of Gran Turismo, the racing video game from which each of these five drivers got their start.

Rather than just run a standard race on the track, the event was split into two. First, the drivers ran three laps of Silverstone virtually, on Gran Turismo 6. Then, they were transferred into real cars, where they ran a two lap head-to-head race.
