Pandora Media Inc. has announced that its online radio service has reached 2.5 million U.S. listeners in cars.

The milestone was reached as Pandora continues its efforts to win customers from traditional radio stations. Listeners can get access to Pandora from 23 automakers and eight aftermarket car-stereo manufacturers, said Pandora today in a statement. This year, the internet radio service will be available on over 100 models.

According to Pandora, about half of all its listening takes place in vehicles, and the company hopes to have it come pre-installed in one-third of all new vehicles sold in the U.S. this year. Pandora is also planning to make its service available in Dodge, Infiniti, Jeep, Kia, and Ram brand vehicles.
