Subaru BRZ STI Teaser Actually Shows New TS Model
Those hoping that the Subaru BRZ STI being teased on the Japanese website would turn out to be a turbocharged, high-performance sports car will be in for a disappointment.
Unfortunately, the BRZ being teased is apparently just a BRZ outfitted with STI products and is actually a tS model, which basically stands for “Tuned by STI.” Essentially, the BRZ tS is similar to a BMW M Performance model, packing the good looks and handling upgrades without tampering with what’s underneath the hood.

As for the BRZ tS, it’ll come in two variants: a standard package and a GT package. The GT Package will come with a plethora of exterior modifications such as a dry-carbon GT rear spoiler, black wheels, Recaro front seats, new shift knob, steering wheel buttons, side blade inserts, new fog lights, front under spoiler, side skirts, and an upgraded driveshaft. Suspension is upgraded with Bilstein pieces while a six-piston Brembo brake setup has also been outfitted on the BRZ.
The standard model does away with the massive rear spoiler and some of the other higher-end accessories such as the Recaro seats and black-painted wheels. The Japanese automaker will be producing 500 units of the tS model, with half of the allotment going to GT packages.
