Lexus RC-F to Debut at 2014 Detroit Auto Show
Lexus released the first teaser image of the new RC-F before its official debut during the 2014 Detroit Auto Show next month.
The first piece in that puzzle came out today. Lexus said its new F model, which will probably serve as a replacement to the aging IS-F, is “engineered from scratch.” Toyota has a history of recycling its powertrains, so that particular piece of the tiny release raises questions.
Current IS-F sedans are powered by a 5.0-liter V8 with 416 hp and 371 lb-ft of torque. Those cars run from 0-60 mph in 4.6 seconds, have a 170 mph top speed and use an eight-speed automatic transmission.
If the leaky gauntlet ran last week by the Mustang is any indication, information about the car will start trickling out well in advance of its official press conference unveiling.
