Tesla CEO Confirms Apple Talks, Says Deal is 'Unlikely'

Elon Musk has confirmed that Tesla has had conversations with representatives from tech company Apple, but he says that it is “very unlikely” that Tesla will be sold to another company.

Musk did not dive into any details concerning what exactly the two companies were discussing, but rumor has it that Apple may have been interested in purchasing Tesla. Last week, the San Francisco Chronicle reported that Tesla met with Apple’s top deal maker, which caused Tesla stock to jump.

But Musk has now put a cap on the rumor mill. “We need to stay super focused on creating a compelling mass-market electric car,” Musk told Bloomberg TV. “I’d be very concerned in any kind of acquisition scenario, whoever it is, that we would become distracted from that task, which has always been the driving goal of Tesla,” he said.
