Tire maker Nokian Tyres is developing a winter tire that features retractable studs.

According to Nokian, the tire is still in concept form but could one day become a reality. As the video below demonstrates, drivers will be able to bring out the studs on the tire to increase grip in icy weather with the push of a button. Those studs can then be retracted when they’re not needed.

The concept tire is being presented alongside the 80th anniversary of the first winter tire, which was developed by Nokian.
