Behold the new face of Porsche in motorsport, the 919 Hybrid LMP1 race car!
Seen here in a leaked photo next to the new 911 RSR racer, the 919 Hybrid marks Porsche’s return to the highest tier of sports car racing, competing in the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) in 2014 including at the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
While the hybrid drivetrain is designed specifically for maximum efficiency in endurance racing, Porsche says the car is, “a research laboratory for the technology of future production vehicles.”
The official debut of the 919 Hybrid will occur Tuesday March 4th at 8:20 CET (2:20 a.m. EST).
