The Volkswagen Group is looking forward to closing 2014 with strong sales.

The German automaker has announced that it is on schedule to sell 10 million vehicles this year and had a strong September with 881,300 units sold, marking a three-percent increase. The company attributed higher sales in China and Europe to help offset lowered sales in the U.S. and South America but believes it has the opportunity to reach 10-million deliveries by the end of the year.

Reaching the 10-million sales milestone this year means the Volkswagen Group achieved its goal four years in advance and through nine months this year, sales have increased five percent to 7.4 million. The group’s biggest single market is currently China, where sales rose 15 percent to 2.72 million. Meanwhile in the U.S., sales have dropped five percent to 439,600 while deliveries in South America saw a 21 percent decrease to 538,400.

The Volkswagen Group owns Audi, Porsche, Bentley, VW, Skoda and Seat.
