BMW X7 Details Leaked
New details about BMW’s upcoming flagship SUV are starting to emerge.
According to a report by Spanish outlet Motor.es, the new SUV SAV will ride on the same rear-wheel drive HPLC platform as the upcoming 7 Series and the rest of the company’s rear-drive vehicles. As in the next 7 Series, the architecture’s lightweight material construction – reportedly a combination of carbon fiber reinforced plastic, aluminum and magnesium among other metals – will help it to save weight.

The powertrain lineup will consist of a base twin-scroll six-cylinder gasoline engine, diesel versions and a range-topping V12. Most of the suspension components will supposedly come from the X5 and X6
Assembly of the X7 will take place at BMW’s Spartanburg, S.C. facility where the rest of its utility vehicle production takes place. BMW confirmed a $1 billion investment into the plant that will catapult its capacity by 50 percent to 450,000 units annually, making space for new new three-row X7.

Given the automotive industries worst rated SUV for reliability, (BMW X5), along with an average customer ownership rating of 1 star out of 5 due to nightmarish breakdowns, cost of repairs and dealerships that won't back their product, why would anyone opt for an even more expensive, larger unreliable money pit to entrust their family in?
