Nissan will reportedly build the first Mercedes-Benz pickup truck.

The Wall Street Journal is reporting that the Mercedes-Benz pickup will be based on the Nissan Navara architecture and Daimler will provide technology, including four- and six-cylinder powertrains. The two people familiar with the situation that spoke with the Wall Street Journal did say that discussions between both automakers are at an advanced stage, but details are “still being worked out.”

As expected Mercedes declined comments on speculation about future projects, but earlier this month the German automaker did confirm it’ll launch a midsize pickup truck before 2020. The company is aiming to compete in the European, Latin American, Australian and South African markets. According to Mercedes, the pickup will be developed and designed by the Mercedes-Benz Vans division and Daimler has made no decision whether it’ll be available in the U.S.

I currently own two Mercedes E-class (2011 Sedan, 2015 Coupe). I'm in the market for a big truck, most likely a Toyota Tundra crew cab - there is no way I would even consider a Nissan truck with a Mercedes star on the front. MB is really starting to disappoint me lately.
