Honda may have impressed at the New York Auto Show with the 2016 Civic concept, but this is what you can expect when the production model appears.

Patent drawings of the Japanese’s next-generation Civic show it in both coupe and sedan form, giving a better look at how the 2016 Honda Civic will look when it arrives dealerships. As expected, the styling on the next-gen Civic has been toned down a tad compared to the aggressive concept at the New York Auto Show. It does share much of the same metalwork, but with less futuristic headlights. What does appear to be making its way to the production model are the full-width tail lights.

If you were expecting something more along the lines of the concept, don’t lose all hope. It is likely that Honda will produce a much more aggressive, sportier model that will resemble the concept. Details on the 10th-generation Honda Civic will be released closer to the model’s launch, but rumor has it that Honda will be outfitting it with a naturally-aspirated 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine and a 1.5-liter VTEC turbocharged four cylinder.
