Lexus IS 200t Introduced With Turbo Power
Lexus has made finally made a move that has been long rumored by sticking its new 2.0-liter turbo engine under the hood of the IS.
The new Lexus IS 200t is powered by the same 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine found in the NX, which puts out 245 hp and 258 lb-ft of torque. The engine is hooked up to an eight-speed automatic transmission.

Lexus says the car will run from 0 to 62 mph in 7 seconds flat, while average fuel economy is rated at 33 mpg, though that is on the typically generous European test cycle. Fuel economy is boosted thanks to intelligent variable valve timing which allows the engine to switch between the Otto and Atkinson cycles.
For now, the IS 200t has only been announced for US markets. We reached out to Lexus for clarification on US sales but did not receive a response as of publication time.
The car will be available in Europe starting in September of this year.
Update: Lexus spokeswoman Allison Takahashi confirmed that the IS 200t is coming to the US market. A timeline for the car’s arrival was not provided.

245HP from 2.0 is not that impressive when a 2011 Hyundai Sonata 2.0 made 270HP from the same 2.0
If there is someone from Toyota out there: manual transmission for the IS series, please!
