Production of the Lotus 400 has commenced and the sports car is heading to dealerships in the U.K. and Europe.

As the fastest production Lotus sports car ever, the Evora 400 weighs just 3,075 lbs while being powered by a 3.5-liter supercharged V6 engine with 400 hp and 302 lb-ft of torque. According to the British automaker, more than two-thirds of the Evora 400 is new, including the powertrain. With its lightweight body and powerful motor, the Evora 400 is capable of going zero to 60 mph in just 4.1 seconds and has a top speed of 186 mph.

Available to buyers is an optional “Black Pack” that finishes the roof, sills and center section of the rear wing in gloss black as well as a dark headliner in the cabin. Lightweight forged wheels can also added along with optional yellow or black brake calipers.

The Lotus Evora 400 will head to the U.S. and China markets early next year as a 2017 model year.

“The Evora 400 has already received admiration and critical acclaim from media around the world, praising its performance, handling and design,” said Jean-Marc Gales, Group Lotus CEO. “In September and October, Lotus dealers throughout the U.K. and mainland Europe will be receiving their demonstrator and customers cars, so now is the opportunity for drivers to get behind the wheel and experience the Evora 400 for themselves.”

Weighing "just" 3,000 pounds? Or do you mean 2,000 pounds? Otherwise, this lotus isn't much of a Lotus.

2000 lbs? That's less than half a tonne, Don't think even Caterhams fall that low in weight. Lotus has light weight cars, i think the Evora 400 could have persued that goal a little better too, but Lotus are probably right to make a model that competes against its rivals much more head-on.
