Lamborghini expects to set a new sales record this year.

Last year, the Italian automaker saw deliveries increase 19 percent to a record 2,530 units and CEO Stephan Winkelmann believes 2015 will end “in a better way than the previous year.” Lamborghini is benefiting from strong demand for the new Huracan, which will see a convertible variant debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show next week in Germany. The Huracan Spyder won’t go on sale until next spring, however.

Although exact numbers weren’t announced, Winkelmann confirmed that sales in China are broadly flat this year compared to 2014, despite the economic downturn. Deliveries are significantly higher if Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan are taken into account.

Lamborghini will be launching its Urus SUV in 2018 and expects to sell about 3,000 units annually, meaning that Lamborghini will more than double its sales before the end of the decade. Check back early next week when Lamborghini drops the top on its Huracan as AutoGuide.com will be reporting live from the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show.
