The elegant and innovative 2016 Volvo XC90 has won AutoGuide.com‘s Utility Vehicle of the Year Award.

The premium three-row crossover won over AutoGuide.com editors with its fantastic powertrain and swanky Scandinavian style both inside and out. Most importantly, the XC90 sets a new benchmark for the segment and industry as a whole and proved to be the most innovative utility vehicle for the 2016 model year.

“Congratulations to the team at Volvo. The Volvo XC90 is really impressive, and one of the best things about it is that it’s the unconventional pick for someone shopping this segment,” said Jodi Lai, Managing Editor of AutoGuide.com. “This car looks great, it’s practical, it drives amazingly, it has one of the best engines and interiors in the industry, and it has a ton of safety features and lot of great technology. The Volvo XC90 stands out because it is so innovative and so radically different from any other SUV on the market.”

Powered by a unique 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that’s both supercharged and turbocharged, it delivers strong performance combined with a comfortable ride. Strong and stylish on the outside, the Volvo is equally impressive on the inside, where a tech-laden and luxurious cabin is highlighted by a huge tablet-like infotainment screen. There is nothing else like the Volvo XC90 on the market right now.

The Volvo XC90 beat out the Honda HR-V, Hyundai Tucson and Honda Pilot for the award.
