Volvo debuted its new XC40 compact crossover today, but not to be missed is the simultaneous announcement on its new Care by Volvo subscription service.

Care by Volvo offers an alternative to the traditional ways people buy or lease vehicles. Through the service, customers will be able to order their vehicle online, pay a monthly flat rate and never have to worry about things such as insurance, taxes or service fees. The service is tailored toward those who are a bit intimidated by the finance and upkeep aspects of car ownership and simply want to pay a flat fee and drive their vehicle as needed.

“With Care by Volvo, we introduce a new car access for the modern age,” said Volvo CEO Håkan Samuelsson. “In a time where consumers are used to transparent flat fees for all sorts of services, the traditional process of buying and owning a car can be perceived as rather complicated. Care by Volvo changes all of that.”

Care by Volvo customers will be allowed to switch cars through the service temporarily depending on their needs, and no pricing negotiations will be involved in the “purchasing” process. The service has no customer age or geographical price differences and will set a national standard price for the service for the United States and applicable Eurozone countries. The first vehicle available through Care by Volvo will be the XC40, but the automaker says it will expand to include more of its models over time.

“With a fixed monthly payment, Volvo Cars provides a truly customer-focused alternative to the traditional purchase or leasing,” said Volvo’s vice president of Volvo Care, Thomas Andersson. “Time is a luxury for our customers, and with this service we are able to free up time in their daily lives. This is simply making life easier for our customers.”

This concept is brilliant. Especially for those who have always wanted to try a vehicle for a month b4 they buy. Applaud, applaud!!! I would try every car that offers this that I was even remotely thinking about. BRILLIANT, I say it again.

Care by Volvo could meet a few needs: 1. Leases for buyers without established good credit, especially new buyers, this is probably the primary target customer. 2. Leasing for less than 24 months, if they offer it. 3. Leasing for high mileage drivers, if they allow it.
