To go along with a slight facelift, Mercedes-AMG is giving its sports coupe even more power for the 2018 model year.

YouTuber Automotive Mike caught the facelifted GT models recently testing at the Nurburgring, and as you can tell by the video, changes will be modest. The subtle cosmetic changes will arrive with a minor power upgrade, with the standard GT model (currently 469 horsepower) inching closer to a 500-hp figure. The S and C variants should also get a slight boost in performance over their current 515 hp and 550 hp, respectively.

The range-topping GT R, which currently offers 577 hp, could also see a bump to around 600 hp. But according to Autocar, the GT R’s output is believed to be limited by the use of a dry sump, so if the German automaker integrates the wet sump system found in the E63, the GT R could near the same power output as the E63 S that has 603 hp from the same V8 engine.

Recently, Jeremy Clarkson on The Grand Tour noted how the GT R isn’t an interesting buy at the moment since it’s not even the highest horsepower model in AMG’s portfolio. So those in the market are wise to wait for the facelifted version that should arrive sometime this year.
