The new Audi S8 is likely nearing its debut, as the German automaker is testing the high-performance sedan without any camouflage.

Spy photographers caught the next Audi S8 on the Nurburgring, wearing a quad exhaust setup that’s often found on S-badged models. Overall, there are subtle changes to the sedan’s exterior compared to the standard A8, as most of the changes will focus on enhancing performance.

It’s believed power will come from a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine, similar to the one used in the Porsche Panamera Turbo. The current S8 offers 605 horsepower from a 4.0-liter TFSI engine, so expect an increase when the new model debuts. Rumors say it could reach 650 hp.

And since it does ride on the MLB platform, the S8 could also take advantage of another Porsche powertrain, the plug-in hybrid setup found in the Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid.

Expect more information in the coming months as the Audi S8 debut shouldn’t be too far off.

Put the camo back on... It's boring and has virtually an indistinguishable face from the Hyundai lineup. And Hyundai had the trapezoid grill before Audi who was still suffering from the oversized 20 year old rectangle. They then pulled a Chinese move and copied Hyundai. Germans have lost their way insofar as styling is concerned. Only Lexus is worse...
