Bugatti, in a quest to produce what they call the “fastest artwork ever,” enlisted the help of French conceptual artist Bernar Venet, and came up with the Veyron Grand Sport Venet. 

It might behove Bugatti to re-visit the tale of Icarus if recent reports about the brand’s next car are correct.

Bugatti just unveiled a special edition Veyron supercar at the Sao Paulo Motor Show with a $2.5-million price tag.

Despite reports that Bugatti is working hard on its Galibier model, the flagship sedan has been delayed though Bentley and Bugatti boss Wolfgang Schreiber has confirmed a concept is still on the drawing board.

It’s been quite a while since we last heard anything newsworthy on the upcoming Bugatti Galibier model, but the French exotic automaker wants the world to know it’ll be well worth the wait.

Toyota has announced its sales figures for the first half of 2012, and the numbers look like Toyota will be able to beat out  GM and Volkswagen in sales for 2012. In the first six months of this year the Japanese automaker sold 4.97 million vehicles.

The list of hybrid supercars is growing, and Bugatti might be the next company to jump on the bandwagon with a hybrid variant of the upcoming Veyron successor.

It almost seems like the Bugatti Galibier is going to become a mythical machine, but the French supercar maker wanted to remind everyone that the sedan is coming, and that it’s continuing to work hard in perfecting the production model.

The Bugatti Grand Sport is the epitomy of a car built for speed, so much speed that it sometimes gets a little hard to handle. 

In the skiing world Jon Olsson is known for innovating new tricks, in the automotive world he’s known for taking supercars through weather that might make some SUV drivers cringe.

The Bugatti Veyron is seen as the climax of automotive engineering; a quad-turbocharged 16.4-liter W12 engine with 1,001 hp, as well as a sublime all-wheel drive system which helps the car reach 60 mph in less than three seconds, and achieve a top speed of 253 mph.

When you create the world’s fastest convertible with 1,200 hp, it’s hard to showcase just how magnificent it is. The Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse may require a lot more than just a video to do it justice, but this 2:28 clip does comes close.

The French automaker took its latest and greatest creation out to some of the world’s most scenic locations. Armed with a multitude of cameras and high-flying angles, the promotional video on the Grand Sport Vitesse features an epic soundtrack that embodies what the machine is all about — excess.

The Grand Sport Vitesse has 199-hp more than the previous Grand Sport and the 1,200-hp is backed by 1,106 lb-ft of torque thanks to its 7.9-liter W16 powerplant and four turbochargers.

For many of us that will never have the opportunity to ride in one, nevermind drive it, this video is all we have to enjoy.

This year marks Queen Elizabeth’s diamond jubilee, and to celebrate, a gathering of sixty rare and beautiful cars will be brought together at the quadrangle in Windsor Castle in England. 

Only cars of the highest caliber have been invited to the event, and will be arriving at the castle from all over the world. One car from every year starting from 1952 will be featured, representing every year since the Queen was inaugurated. The earliest car featured is a 1952 Bentley R Type(54′ R Type Shown Above), and the newest car will be a 2011 Lamborghini Aventador, Ferrari FF or a Porsche 991.

Most of the cars have already been selected, but an open casting call is out right now for owners of specific cars to volunteer to bring their fine machines to the Castle to be displayed for the Queen.

We have to wonder how much the Queen really likes cars? Hopefully she appreciates what she is getting, as this will undoubtedly be one of the nicest gatherings of rare luxury cars ever.

Bugatti unveiled its Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse today at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show, officially revealing the world’s fastest topless car.

Last month we reported rumors of an open-top Bugatti Super Sport headed for Geneva, and as it turns out, the rumors prove to be true.

Arizona police can do little more than throw a hissy fit over a video garnering YouTube fame where someone pilots a Bugatti Veyron to 225 mph on a public road over the course of seven runs.

Although we have to believe the video’s uploader because the speedometer isn’t shown during the runs, it’s evident from how quickly objects whip by that they’re probably hitting their stated speed.

Mind you, the Veyron’s 8.0-liter W16 engine – in all of its quad-turbo glory, is capable of higher speeds, though probably not on unmanicured pavement. Were that the case, the driver might have touched the 253-mph top speed it’s capable of in Top Speed mode.

Regardless, we’re treated to seeing one of the world’s most notorious bad boy cars shooting past the camera several times, as well as a cabin shot during their max-speed run. The video caps off on a cheeky note, with the car pulled over by a member of the Arizona highway patrol, though not during any of their eyelid-peeling runs.

Somebody ought to call Scooby Doo and the Gang because there’s something fishy going on at Bugatti.

Bugatti is paying homage to its founder, Ettore Bugatti, by bringing a custom yellow and black Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport to the 2012 Qatar Motor Show. The horizontally-split yellow body with black carbon represents Ettore Bugatti’s favorite colors and shows of Bugatti’s continued tradition off different color schemes and materials to create unique cars.

If you thought the Bugatti Veyron Super Sport was the last and most impressive iteration of the world’s fastest car, think again. The exotic automaker is reportedly planning one more final edition model, a convertible.

There was always something funny about the Bugatti Veyron that crashed into a Texas lagoon, conveniently captured on video and shared on the Internet for the world to see.

The driver, Andy House, claimed he had to swerve to avoid a pelican on the road while trying to pick up his cell phone that dropped. To make it even more suspicious, the exotic was left idling in the water for 15 minutes until it died – ensuring that it would be a totaled vehicle by the time any authorities got  to it.

And House’s explanation for not turning off the engine? He claimed he was being bitten by mosquitoes and didn’t want to return to the car to turn off the engine. While we live in a country where everyone is innocent until proven guilty, the details laid out in House’s scenario seems to really go against him. His insurance company paid out $2 million for the car, even though House only secured a $1 million interest-free loan for the vehicle.

There are also claims going around that House tried to pay a confidential informant to steal the Bugatti and set it on fire in order to claim the insurance on it, essentially doubling the initial investment from the loaner. The insurance company is now firing back, claiming fraud. A federal judge has declared that the claim must go before a jury. They’re also stating that House violated the terms of the policy, claiming that he put over 1,200 miles on the vehicle in the three weeks he owned it.

We don’t know about you, but we’re pretty sure that mosquitoes would be the last of our worries if we were trying to save our million dollar (and change) investment. Besides, no one ever saw a pelican of any sort in any of the videos. Good luck with this one Mr. House.

Bugatti debuted a trio of special edition Veyron Grand Sports for the Middle East at the Dubai International Motor Show, each sporting a unique two-tone color scheme with a matching or contrasting interior theme. Each sport a horizontal color split aimed to “honor the very important Middle East market”.

Volkswagen is experiencing unprecedented levels of success as for the first time in the German automaker’s history, 6.11 million vehicles have been sold in the first nine months of the year. If sales momentum continues, Volkswagen will easily surpass its annual target of 8 million vehicles sold for 2011.

With news of a redesign coming from the mouth of CEO Wolfgang Durheimer himself, it’s only natural that the Bugatti Galibier sedan would be delayed.

Volkswagen is set to approve production of the Bugatti Galiber by the end of 2011, but Bugatti head Wolfgang Durheimer himself told Autocar that the concept car will bear little resemblance to what super wealthy customers will eventually be able to buy.

It’s not outrageous enough! That’s apparently the line from Bugatti‘s CEO Wolfgang Durheimer in reference to the Galibier sedan. He says that the 800 horsepower four-door needs more power and even more interior space and luxury appointments in order to make it viable for production.

Because owning the world’s fastest car just isn’t enough for some people, Bugatti has crafted the Grand Sport L’Or Blanc.

In an interview with a Dutch magazine, Wolfgang Dürheimer, the current CEO of Bugatti and Bentley has said that it is not possible to integrate the two. He added that the Super Sport has very fine tuned aerodynamics, which will not be applicable to an open-top car. And while the Grand Sport did receive extra structural rigidity, the all carbon-fiber monocoque of the Super Sport is even stiffer.

Bugatti has built the fastest production cars in the world, but their next project will be a little different. Bugatti CEO Wolfgang Durheimer confirmed that the new 16 C Galibier concept, which gives an indication as to their next production car, will have four seats and have a generous trunk for luggage.

Ever dreamed of owning your own exotic car collection? Well, if you recently won a hefty lottery jackpot then Ferrari of Fort Lauderdale has you covered. The allocator of fine machines has assembled six of the most exotic vehicles ever made and is offering them for a lump-sum purchase of $9 million.

With so many color combinations that Bugatti has to offer, you’d think almost every Veyron Grand Sport out there is a one-off. But there is truly a completely unique and one-off Grand Sport in the world, called the Sang Blanc, and it features an exotic Bianco Canopus Matt exterior finish. And now the matte white pearl Grand Sport is up for sale with just 448 miles on the odometer.

It has been two-years since Bugatti pulled the covers off their Galibier super-sedan concept, and while they had made much noise about the concept when it was revealed, not much has been said about this car since.

Saint-Tropez is a small town located just east of Marseille on the French Riviera and is often known for its beaches and a regatta event held every year that draws some of the world’s finest luxury yachts to its bay. In other words, it’s a little resort town that attracts some of the world’s wealthiest tourists and as a result, travelers within Europe often times show off really fancy cars.

Seeing any car getting vandalized is an unfortunate sight. Seeing a Bugatti Veyron with a busted passenger-side window in Beverly Hills is tragic. Finding out that Veyron belonged to fashion designer Bijan Pakzad, who abruptly passed away in April, makes us question humanity.

Pakzad’s infamous black and yellow Veyron, which can be seen sitting outside his Rodeo Drive boutique, was recently vandalized with its passenger-side window smashed in, and of course video teams were ready to capture it all to share.

The motive behind the break-in isn’t clear, but we’re sure it’s safe to assume someone was looking for something to steal.

It might not be as fancy as the Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport L’Or Blanc, but Dartz out in Cannes, France has done their own fancy version of a Veyron. Apparently this Veyron has been all over, getting tuned by TAM Auto Engineering in Dubai before it was shipped over to France where Dartz outfitted it with a full red chrome wrap – which might be the first of its color and kind – some wheels, and interior upgrades.

We can’t imagine what this Veyron looks like in person, but we’re guessing it’s even more blingy in real life.

As if Bugatti’s Veyron Grand Sport wasn’t extravagant or unique enough, the ultra-exotic auto manufacturer has unveiled a truly one-of-a-kind vehicle dubbed the L’Or Blanc. In collaboration with Königliche Porzellan-Manufaktur, this Veyron Grand Sport features porcelain on its body and in its cabin. Stop rubbing your eyes, the most unusual material imaginable that can be used on a car has found its way on one of the world’s fastest convertibles.

Hard to believe that it’s been eight long years since the Bugatti Veyron was introduced. And it’s hard to believe that the Veyron, a car for which Bugatti seems content to churn out limited editions until the heat-death of the universe, is actually nearing the end of its life.

If you’re a believer in tarot cards, voodoo and rumors thinly disguised as news on the internet, then you’ll love the upcoming Bugatti Royale. That is reportedly the name of the production version of the ultra fast and luxurious sedan that will be based closely on the Galibier concept.

Rapper Flo Rida (real name Tramar Dillard) received a DUI in his $1.7 million black 2008 Bugatti Veyron last night, after police observed the car swerving in and out of lanes. During the 3:30 AM downtown Miami stop, the police could smell the odor of alcohol, so the rapper was given a field sobriety test and failed. Flo-Rida’s blood alcohol level was .185 which is more than twice the legal limit.

With the Gumball 3000 already underway (it started May 26), the folks in charge of the international parade of shenanigans has released a video showing the rally’s start in Covent Garden, London. The 19 minute video shows over 100 of the most magnificent and rare supercars in the world. Even the rain couldn’t stop the massive crowd that gathered to watch the beginning of the world’s most fun and most glamorous rally.

The 3000 mile rally will start in London and end in Istanbul over a seven day period across 10 countries, via Paris, Barcelona, Monte Carlo, Milan, Venice, Zagreb, Belgrade and Sofia. It was also revealed that the 2011 rally would cost £25,000 to take part in.

Participants include the “who’s who” of the international social scene, Sheikhs, entrepreneurs, oil tycoons, and dot com billionaires.

The incredible line up includes Pagani Zondas, Bugatti Veyrons, Ferraris, Lamborghinis, Rolls Royces, Bentleys, Aston Martins, Jaguars, Porsches, Morgans and several Lotus’, and this year, over 20 eco and concept electric cars are taking part as Gumball enters a new decade of green motoring!

If you can afford the car, then dropping a few bucks for the yacht to go with it shouldn’t be a problem. The Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport Sang Bleu rules the road, and the 30-foot Sang Bleu yacht concept will one day, fingers crossed, rule the water.

Fashion designer Bijan Pakzad was famous for his Rodeo Drive boutique, which was dubbed “the most expensive store in the world”. While Bijan recently passed away from a stroke, his legacy will live on not only in the fashion world, but among automotive enthusiasts.

Bijan was lucky enough to own a Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport, and his own personal example was outfitted in his signature yellow and black paint job, to match his own hardtop outfitted in a similar scheme (shown above). We’ve seen a ton of cars sporting the nostalgic Gulf Oil theme before, but this one has to be the most expensive of the bunch. With the countless possibilities that one can do with Bugatti’s extensive online configurator, it was only a matter of time before a Gulf-themed Veyron showed up at a dealership floor. We’re assuming that this is actually just a one-off that Bugatti did in order to honor the world famous livery but perhaps a customer did order it specifically.

Ralph Lauren’s prestigious sports car collection is on show for the first time at Paris’ Musée des Arts Décoratifs. Lauren is normally reluctant to publicly display his vehicles, although he last let publications such as Road & Track and Vanity Fair get a glimpse of various vehicles in his stable. Cars from manufacturers like Bentley, Mercedes-Benz, Jaguar, Porsche and Ferrari will be on display. The show is on from April 28 to August 28.

Peter Mullin, who has collected more than 30 Bugattis at his Mullin Automotive Museum in Oxnard California, is receiving an appropriate body to be fitted to one of the last remaining 1939 Bugatti Type 64’s.

After tinkering around with Bugatti’s extensive online configurator for their Veyron, we find it hard to believe anyone special ordering their Veyron would end up with an identical one as someone else. But as if a ridiculously high number of combinations weren’t enough, Bugatti has released two more special edition Veyrons out in Shanghai featuring unique color and trim combinations.

Bugatti president and CEO Wolfgang Durheimer confirming that Bugatti will move forward with producing the 16C Galibier isn’t the biggest news about the super sedan, rather, it’s the fact that Bugatti will be offering a hybrid variant of the car. In an interview with CAR Magazine, Durheimer announced more details on the Galibier program and what Bugatti will be offering for its luxury sedan.

Ferrari‘s next flagship supercar, the successor to the 2003 Enzo, will be influenced by the Bugatti Veyron, although Ferrari declined to specify what parts of the vehicle were inspired by the world’s most powerful car.

For those well-heeled enthusiasts looking to take their friends up to 250+mph, take heart—Bugatti has announced plans to build the Galiber four-do0r, four-seater sedan.

You could be the proud regretful owner of a Bugatti Veryron, for what is certain to be a fraction of the cost of a new model. No, we’re not talking about a Fiero kit car, but a real Veyron. There’s just one issue, it’s got a salvage title given by the insurance company when the owner famously confused it with a submarine.

A group of Facebook users have decided to take advantage of Bugatti’s in depth Veyron configurator by holding a contest to see who can produce the ugliest Bugatti Veyron out there. Now for those that haven’t played around with the Veyron configurator – mostly because many of us never plan on owning one – there’s a lot of options and versatility in the app that Bugatti has developed for potential buyers. Nearly everything on the car can be configured in terms of color, which makes for some fantastic results even if you just randomly clicked blindly.

There are belts, and then there are belts for the exotic automobile enthusiast. If you fall into the latter category, you’ll want to keep you pants in place with a Bugatti edition mechanical buckle.

Normally we have huge gripes about an awesome concept with poor execution, but this time we can’t bring ourselves to complain. OK, sure it’s not exactly at the top of our list of things to do – nor would we be the ones forking out the cash for it – but we can’t say it’s the most horrible idea in the world. Is it bad? Sure. Is it awful? Maybe. Is the finished product really that bad? Not really.

Rapper and music impresario Birdman is the finest example of the American dream – even someone of questionable literacy can become rich enough to afford a Bugatti Veyron thanks to hard work and capitalize on certain “market inefficiencies” when distributing products that are only available at your local street-corner pharmacy.

Despite Birdman’s love of premium products, the Bugatti Veyron was at one time the domain of only the most obnoxiously wealthy, counting Arab oil shieks, inherited wealth and Simon Cowell as its owners. Bugatti’s CEO even remarked that he did not want rappers to purchase the Veyron, but his plans to control who owns a Veyron have gone awry. Birdman made a video over the summer showing him taking delivery of his Bugatti, decked out in Birdman’s signature all-red colorway, a nod to his supposed affiliation with the Bloods street gang.

Now Birdman has a new single, imaginatively titled “Fire Flame”. The plot is rather de rigueur for the genre, with Birdman rapping outside an awful faux-French Chateau  (dubbed “Stunna Island”), getting his head shaved with a straight razor, literally burning money, sipping Cristal, meeting with Korean and Cuban organized crime figures and most importantly, squiring a legion of breast-implant equipped models in his famous Veyron, with a Louisiana vanity plate bearing the word “Fire” on it.

Once the proletariat are able to obtain a luxury good, it is arguably a commodity, and nobody is more sensitive to that than the people charged with selling Bugattis. We can’t wait to see what they have planned next to ensure this never happens again.
