BMW’s M Performance vehicles will be replacing the “is” trimmed cars as each new model goes through its generational change in the next few years.
2013 BMW X6 M Gets Minor Changes [Videos]
With all the excitement surrounding the official release of the BMW M Performance Diesel models, we almost forgot that the actual M models might be receiving some attention for the new year too.
For 2013, BMW gave the X6 M a light refresh, subtly changing the front of the crossover with new LED headlights and grille. Also included in the update are new leather interior choices. The 2013 BMW X6 M will continue to be powered by a 4.4L twin-turbo, V8 powerplant with 547-hp and 502 lb-ft of torque. The engine is mated to a six-speed M Sport automatic transmission.

BMW M550d, X5 M50d and X6 M50d Revealed With Tri-Turbo Diesel Power
After months of rumors and speculation, BMW has made its new 3.0L six-cylinder, inline diesel engine official, packing what they’re calling M Performance TwinPower Turbo technology, which is a misnomer since it sports three turbochargers. The system works by using two smaller turbos to deliver more responsive power down low in the rpm range, with a large turbo to add top-end thrust.
BMW X6 M50d to Get Tri-Turbo, Six-Cylinder Diesel With 545 Lb-Ft of Torque?
Rumors are now spreading rampantly since BMW released its teaser video of the first-ever BMW M Diesel in the form of their X6 crossover. It is now widely believed that the X6 M50d will come with a tri-turbo, six-cylinder diesel powerplant pushing out 381-hp with a healthy 545 lb-ft of torque.
Audi Building BMW X6 Competitor
Audi, which is looking to surpass BMW in the luxury vehicle segment is now aiming at the X6. BMW launched the X6 in 2008, and while it might not be a huge sales success, it has contributed enough to keep BMW SUV/CUV sales ahead of Audi.
BMW X6M Diesel Teased [Video]
Oh we just couldn’t help but think one thing when we saw this teaser video from BMW. By blurring out the key parts of the car – mainly the rear badges – we had to wonder if BMW decided to take a page out of XXX videos from Japan. You know, where they’re notorious of blurring out the most important parts of the video.
Plenty of rumors have been floating around that the upcoming X6 M would get a diesel powerplant along with its redesign. What is even more of a dead giveaway is freezing the video around the 0:36 mark where the blurred rear badge clearly hints that it’ll be a diesel. The powerplant under the hood could be the M550d that’s been rumored to have 381-hp and 516 lb-ft of torque.
But clearly BMW wants something to be a surprise, otherwise there’d be no real reason to blur and tease us like they have.
Check out the video after the break.
BMW X6 ActiveHybrid Axed
The BMW X6 is a niche market vehicle, and its sales numbers in North America have reflected its limited appeal. Now one of its variants (perhaps the ultimate niche market version) is getting the axe.
BMW X5 And X6 Exclusive Editions Announced
Set to debut at the upcoming Frankfurt Auto Show in September are BMW‘s X5 and X6 Exclusive Editions, sporting a unique Orion Silver Metallic paint finish and Nevada leather interior cribbed from the 6-Series. In addition, both the X5 and X6 will receive special wheels and dark bamboo interior trim as accessories.
Mercedes-Benz GLS Takes On BMW X6
Mercedes-Benz is planning to take on the BMW X6 with it’s own sporty SUV called the GLS. The GLS is scheduled for launch in 2014, and will be a new four-seater built around the same unibody platform that makes up the third-generation M-class (shown above) and the latest Jeep Grand Cherokee. The GLS will have less cargo room (compared to the M-class)thanks to a sporty roof line similar to the CLS sedan. Audi and Range Rover are also launching new models to compete with the sporty X6 SUV.
Leather Wrapped BMW X6 Is Strikingly Interesting
The world of modifying cars is ever changing, as more and more creative minds find different ways to personalize their ride, setting it apart from the crowd. Back in SEMA of 2009, Air Runner imported over a Toyota Vellfire van that was wrapped in full genuine red leather. It was definitely eyebrow raising and it looks like there may be a possibility of it catching on. This Lumma Design widebody BMW X6 out in Russia was spotted wrapped in full black leather, though it’s worth mentioning that it’s just faux leather.
RTW Motoring Offering Mansory Wide Body for Range Rover Sport And BMW X6
Southern California tuner, RTW Motoring, is proud to announce their North American distributorship of Mansory products by presenting the wide body tuning package for the Range Rover Sport and BMW X6.
RTW Motoring is offering these conversions at their one-stop shop location and is providing delivery of vehicles anywhere in North America. Of course if you don’t have a Range Rover Sport or BMW X6 but want some Mansory goods for your luxury ride, RTW Motoring can also take care of you.

RTW Motoring professionally installs and paints all aero kits in-house and will outfit your ride with a set of Mansory wheels, more specifically 23-inchers for the Range Rover Sport and 22-inch packages for BMW’s X6.
Those wondering just how wide the conversion is, the Range Rover Sport features a 2.36-inch wider front and 3.15-inch rider rear, while the BMW X6 is more aggressive in the front becoming 2.75-inch wider while the rear addition is similar to the Range Rover Sport at 3.15-inch.
No pricing was announced from RTW Motoring.
Hamann Transforms X6 M to Typhoon Evo M
Widebody, big and bold, Hamann has transformed BMW‘s X6 M to a 670-hp and 700 ft-lbs of torque beast, an increase of 115-hp and 74 ft-lbs of torque. Combine that with the drastic styling changes and Hamann’s Typhon Evo M is clearly one of their most ambitious offerings yet.
Mansory BMW X6 M Gets 670-HP and Lots of Carbon Fiber
There’s no better way to build success than to take a winning formula and applying it on a larger scale. That’s what BMW did with their X5 and X6, and exotic car tuner Mansory has followed suit, taking the foundation from their BMW X5 M tuning program and applying it to the X6 M. But this time Mansory wanted to match the performance prowess and sportiness of the X6 M by mixing in more carbon fiber components.
