Liberty Bell is a car finance and loan company that previously offered several contracts for extended warranty coverage. But is the provider still around, and is a Liberty Bell auto warranty the right choice for you?

In this article, we'll review Liberty Bell Auto Protect coverage, cost, claims, and customer reviews. Then, we'll see how the company stands up to some of the best extended car warranty companies across the country.

Liberty Bell Auto Review: 4.0 Stars

Liberty Bell Auto Protect used to provide several warranty plans at affordable prices. But because the provider appears to have stopped doing business, our team recommends looking elsewhere for vehicle protection.

Liberty Bell Auto Highlights

Liberty Bell Auto Protect was in business for 10 years and had contracts available in every state except California. It sold extended warranty coverage for vehicles that had as many as 140,000 miles and were up to 20 years old.

As of September 2021, our review team has been unable to reach Liberty Bell Auto Protect representatives by phone and has received reports from consumers that this provider is no longer in business. The extended warranty company previously held a B rating from the Better Business Bureau (BBB), but the rating was recently updated to an F.

Liberty Bell Auto Protect Extended Warranty Coverage

There were three vehicle service contracts offered by Liberty Bell Auto Protect. The Platinum warranty plan was roughly equivalent to a powertrain warranty, and the Platinum Prime plan was a bumper-to-bumper warranty. Components covered by each plan are detailed in the chart below.

Each plan also included the following benefits:

  • Roadside assistance: This benefit covered towing, flat tire changes, jump-starts, locksmith services, and fuel delivery services.
  • Rental car coverage: This reimbursed you for the cost of a rental car up to $35 per day for a maximum of six days.
  • Trip interruption coverage: This provided $50 per day for up to three days for emergency trip interruption when you were more than 100 miles from your home.
  • Road hazard coverage: This optional add-on paid to repair or replace a tire that is damaged by a road hazard.

Liberty Bell Auto Protect policies could be purchased for new and used cars and were fully transferable between both cars and owners.

Liberty Bell Auto Warranty Cost

Liberty Bell Auto Protect offered two deductible options: $50 and $100. The final cost of your vehicle service contract depended on the term limits of the contract, your deductible, and your vehicle's model and mileage.

When Liberty Bell was picking up the phones in early 2021, we asked for quotes for a 2017 Ford Explorer with 45,000 miles and were offered the following deals:

These prices are relatively low for this coverage term. The quote we received for a five-year bumper-to-bumper coverage plan comes out to around $490 per year of coverage. Quotes we received for similar coverage on the same vehicle from other providers averaged around $800 per year of coverage.

Liberty Bell Auto Ratings and Reviews

Liberty Bell Auto Protect previously had strong industry and customer ratings, including a B rating from the BBB. However, it has an F rating today.

Customers who complained through the BBB mostly had the same issue: a claim denial. We read through each complaint, and in each case, claims were denied because the mechanical issue was deemed to be a pre-existing condition. While we are not in a position to verify the accuracy of this assertion, there are relatively few customer complaints overall.
