Earlier in the month, Volvo teased its S60 Polestar Performance Concept model, hinting at the potential of its sedan to take on rivals like the BMW M3 and Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG.

The Swedish automaker has finally revealed the specifications of its S60 Polestar Performance Concept, with the 3.0-liter, straight-six tuned to a whopping 508-hp and 424 lb-ft of torque. While the motor is still the production S60 engine, Polestar overhauled the entire longblock building it from bottom to top, as well as bolting on a more powerful Garrett turbocharger.

The stock transmission was then tossed out, replaced with a stronger six-speed manual while the Haldex all-wheel drive was fine tuned. To give the S60 a more aggressive look, the front end was widened a tad over 0.75-inch while the rear saw double that at nearly 1.5 inches wider. The car was then lowered almost 1.2 inches, while new sway bars make it a true handling machine.

Braking performance has been enhanced with Brembo brakes while 19-inch wheels complete the project. Polestar estimates that the S60 can hit 60-mph in just 3.9 seconds. With that sort of performance and such great looks coming from a Volvo model, call us impressed.
