MINI Salutes British Olympians With Horn-y Rendition of "God Save the Queen"

Ahead of the 2012 London Olympics MINI is celebrating its heritage with a usually cheeky tribute to the athletes of Great Britain.

Partnering with the London Philharmonic Orchestra with conductor Gareth Newman, MINI UK has produced a video performing the country’s National Anthem in its usually off-beat way. Rather than the typical instruments, the orchestra members honk horns on a collection of London 2012 Limited Edition MINI models.

In a release MINI calls its cars not just a “cult object” but a “cultural embassador”, something that’s apparently lost on YouTube commenters who have overwhelmingly up-voted a reply that reads, “*cough* German cars *cough cough*”.

That’s unlikely to stop MINI from quickly selling out of all 2,012 versions of the cars.
